REVIEW: Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich c2008

Let me start by saying I am a huge Stephanie Plum fan.  I love the series!  I have not yet grown tired of the immature antics, silly situations and overall crazy that makes these books so much fun to read.

Plum Spooky is a between the numbers book from the series.  I like the between the numbers books but I don't love them as much as the regular series books.  In Plum Spooky the character of Diesel is back and it was evident that this book was setting us all up for the premiere of the Diesel-centric new series by Evanovich (I have yet to read Wicked Appetite but it's moving towards the top of the pile).  This book had the usual bodily noises jokes, usually at the expense of Lula, flirtatious moments between Stephanie and her men and crazy bounty hunting antics including a car wrecked by monkeys...yes, monkeys.  I did giggle out loud enough to prompt a "what are you reading" from my husband but the book didn't have any memorable laugh out loud moments.  The mystery itself had such a weak ending. (minor spoiler alert here)....Steph caught all her skips as usual and the really bad guy...well let's just say we'll see him again, in the Diesel books of course.

Overall, I would say this is a good quick read in the "summer read" vein of novels.  Doesn't take a lot of brain power, you simply enjoy the ride.

4 stars if for nothing else then Elmer the fire farter...oh yeah you read that right!  :)

Happy Reading!
